Main features of the subsection :
Epiphytic or free-growing shrubs ; young shoots scaly , otherwise glabrous. Leaves evergreen, scales on lower surface dense, broad-rimmed. Inflorescence terminal, 1-3-flowered.
Calyx minute. Corolla tubular-funnel-shaped to tubular-campanulate, with scarcely spreading lobes ; stamens 10 ; style impressed , straight. Seeds winged and finned.
